New Ross -- James Allen STEWART was born September 6, 1835, and died  February 21, 1923, aged 87 years, 5 months and 15 days. He was  the son of Moses and Hannah Stewart and was born in Walnut  township where he spent his entire life. He was united in  marriage to Matilda J. POWELL, August 18, 1859. To this union  were born four children: John, Franklin, Homer and Marion. The  two first named died in infancy; Homer died at the age of 24. The  wife and mother passed to her reward October 12, 1920, since  which time he has made his home with his son Marion at New Ross.  He united with the Christian Church at Providence when a young  man and transferred his membership to the Christian Church at New  Ross about twenty-five years ago. He was a trustee of the Church  of his choice for the past twenty years. "Uncle Al' as he has  been known to all his friends, had the honor of voting for the  first Republican president of the United States. He is survived  by his son Marion I. Stewart; two grandchildren, Cecil and Lulu,  all of New Ross; one half-brother, Geo. Stewart of Colorado; two  half-sisters, Mrs. Sarah Shelly of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Susan  Elders of Lebanon, Ind.
